The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has successfully completed a significant flood control initiative in Hermosa, Bataan, enhancing safety for local residents and agricultural lands. The project, valued at PHP48.9 million, was detailed in a report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan by DPWH Region 3 Director Roseller Tolentino. The effort focused on reinforcing the riverbanks of the Hermosa River in Barangay Cataning with 400 linear meters of concrete slope protection. According to Tolentino, the project not only aims to bolster the riverbank’s stability and control erosion but also to ensure the river’s capacity to handle large volumes of water, thus preventing siltation. This initiative is crucial for protecting both the homes and the livelihoods of the local community by maintaining clear water flow and preventing blockages from eroded materials. The project was executed by the Bataan 1st District Engineering Office.
