Bacolod Police Arrest Three in Major Drug Bust, Seize PHP1.7 Million in Shabu

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) successfully apprehended three individuals during a meticulously planned buy-bust operation. The operation, which took place in a hotel located in Barangay Singcang-Airport, resulted in the seizure of PHP1.7 million worth of shabu on Tuesday morning.

The arrested suspects were identified as alias ‘Fredo,’ a 51-year-old supplier from Barangay Mansilingan, and his clients, alias ‘Iya,’ an 18-year-old from the same area, and alias ‘Shaba,’ a 23-year-old from Barangay Singcang-Airport. According to Lt. Richard Legada of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), ‘Fredo’ was the primary supplier to the two female suspects, who paid him either in cash or with shabu.

The operation unfolded just before 7 a.m. when the suspects engaged in a transaction with an undercover police officer inside a hotel room. The police managed to recover 250 grams of shabu from the suspects, valued at PHP6,800 per gram.

This recent bust is part of a broader campaign by the BCPO against drug-related activities in the city. Just days prior, on January 17, the CDEU confiscated 300 grams of shabu worth PHP2.04 million from two women in Purok Laurel, Barangay Mansilingan, and 115 grams valued at PHP782,000 from a male student in Barangay Handumanan. Another operation on January 18 led to the arrest of a woman, alias ‘Jo,’ with 250 grams of shabu worth PHP1.7 million in Barangay Taculing.

These operations underscore the ongoing efforts of the Bacolod City Police to combat the drug menace within the community.
