Davao City has been recognized as the third safest city in Southeast Asia for the year 2024, trailing only behind Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Singapore, as per the latest data from the crowdsourced platform Numbeo. The Safety Index, which compiles information from user submissions, assesses urban safety through metrics such as crime levels, the effectiveness of law enforcement, and the general feeling of security among residents. In the top 10 list, other notable mentions include Penang in Malaysia, Hanoi in Vietnam, Makati and Iloilo in the Philippines, Bangkok and Pattaya in Thailand, and Johor Bahru in Malaysia. Davao City previously held the second position in 2023 with a safety score of 72.4, and third in 2022 with a score of 71.6. Meanwhile, Cebu City, Quezon City, and Manila ranked 11th, 17th, and 18th respectively. The Davao City Police Office expressed its dedication to maintaining safety and security, crediting the cooperation of local officials, residents, and the city government for their continued support.
