Bicol Police Crack Down on Drug Trade, Seize Over P10 Million in Illegal Substances

In a robust weeklong campaign against illegal drugs, the Bicol region’s Police Regional Office (PRO-5) successfully seized drugs valued at PHP10.3 million and apprehended 37 suspects. The operations, spanning from January 13 to 19, 2025, were detailed by PRO-5 Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon during a press briefing on January 20, 2025. A total of 29 operations were executed throughout the region, leading to the confiscation of 1,524.73 grams of shabu and 13.38 grams of marijuana. Albay topped the list with the highest value of seized drugs at PHP5.18 million, followed by Camarines Sur at PHP4.12 million, and Camarines Norte at PHP734,400. Masbate and Sorsogon also reported significant seizures at PHP170,204 and PHP149,600 respectively, while no operations were reported in Catanduanes. Dizon praised the relentless efforts of the police operatives and the crucial support from the community, emphasizing the ongoing commitment to eradicate drugs from Bicol. He stated, ‘The success of these operations reflects the dedication of our team and the cooperation of our communities. We are just starting; our resolve to create a drug-free Bicol remains unwavering.’
