In a significant acknowledgment of public cooperation, eight informants were awarded a total of PHP1.6 million by the Philippine National Police (PNP) for their crucial role in the apprehension of nine wanted criminals. The ceremony took place at the PNP’s headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City, on January 16, 2025. To protect their identities, the informants donned masks during the event.
The PNP highlighted that the arrested individuals were implicated in serious offenses including murder, rape, and homicide. PNP Director for Intelligence Brig. Gen. Westrimundo Obinque emphasized the importance of the information provided by the tipsters in facilitating these arrests.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil praised the reward program as a vital component of the police’s strategy to foster stronger community ties. He expressed gratitude towards the public, noting that their assistance is instrumental in advancing justice and preserving peace within communities.
