In anticipation of the Feast of Sto. Niño, a major religious celebration, the Manila Public Information Office has announced the closure of nine streets in the Pandacan district starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday. The Feast, which occurs every third Sunday of January, draws numerous devotees who participate in processions with their Sto. Niño statues, celebrating the Holy Child Jesus.
The streets affected by the closures include Jesus St.-Palumpong St. from Quirino Ave. to Beata St., Hilum St. from Teodoro San Luis St. to Beata St., Beata St. from Hilum St. to T. Claudio St., E. Zamora St. from Quirino Ave. to Hilum St., Laura St. from Menandro to Beata St., Labores St. from Paco-Sta. Mesa Rd. to Jesus St., Narciso St. from Jesus St. to Hilum St., Industria St. from Jesus St. to Hilum St., and Teodoro San Luis St. from Jesus St. to Hilum St.
To manage traffic flow during the event, rerouting measures have been put in place. Vehicles coming from Mabini Bridge (Nagtahan) are directed to proceed to Quirino Ave. Those from Paco-Sta. Mesa Bridge heading towards Beata, Palumpong, or Laura St. are advised to use Quirino Ave. Vehicles from Paz M. Guazon St. should turn left to Mabini Bridge or right to Quirino Ave., while those from Dr. M.L. Carreon St. heading to Menandro St. are instructed to take Laura St., Paco-Sta. Mesa Rd., or Tomas Claudio St.
