In a strategic move to bolster their operational capabilities, three key warships of the Philippine Navy executed a solo training exercise while on patrol in the West Philippine Sea. The exercise, which took place near Bajo de Masinloc, involved the advanced frigate BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) alongside the Del Pilar-class patrol ships BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS-16) and BRP Andres Bonifacio (PS-17). These ships, classified as capital ships due to their advanced capabilities, focused on enhancing the skills of their crews in managing modern naval systems. Lt. Commander Randy Garbo from the Philippine Fleet’s public affairs office emphasized the importance of such drills in maintaining the Navy’s readiness and operational efficiency. Commander John Percie Alcos, the Navy’s spokesperson, noted that these exercises are routine and essential for all naval units to stay proficient in various warfare dimensions including anti-surface, anti-air, anti-submarine, and electronic warfare.
