Northern Mindanao Police Crack Down on Drugs, Seize PHP38 Million in 100 Days

In a robust campaign against illegal activities, the Northern Mindanao police, under the leadership of Brigadier General Jaysen de Guzman, have arrested 2,324 individuals and confiscated drugs valued at over PHP38 million in the last 100 days. The crackdown, which started on September 26, 2024, and ran through January 4, included 683 anti-drug operations, resulting in 842 arrests and the seizure of 5,676 grams of shabu and 1,255 grams of marijuana. Brigadier General de Guzman emphasized the police’s dedication to safeguarding the community of Northern Mindanao. In addition to drug enforcement, the police also tackled smuggling, arresting 53 people and seizing smuggled cigarettes worth PHP58.6 million in 44 operations. They also conducted 22 operations against illegal mining, leading to 64 arrests and the confiscation of illegal mining equipment valued at PHP18.5 million. Further efforts were made against gambling and illegal firearms, showcasing a comprehensive approach to law enforcement in the region.
