In a significant move to safeguard the integrity of the upcoming national and local elections in May 2025, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has announced a strategic partnership with ABS-CBN. This collaboration aims to fortify the automated election system against digital threats such as misinformation, cyberattacks, and the proliferation of deepfakes. DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy emphasized the critical need to employ advanced technologies while also protecting the electoral process from emerging cyber risks. He highlighted that this partnership with ABS-CBN News, known for its extensive reach and commitment to factual journalism, will enhance the credibility and technological robustness of the elections. The DICT’s involvement extends to its leadership role in the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Advisory Council. Additionally, the DICT collaborates with various stakeholders including the Department of Education, Department of Foreign Affairs, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, and representatives from media, academia, civic groups, online platforms, and the business community. This wide-ranging alliance underscores a collective resolve to maintain transparency and trust in the electoral process. The formalization of this partnership occurred during the Halalan 2025 covenant signing ceremony.
