In a significant law enforcement operation spanning the first half of January, the Caraga Region’s police force successfully detained 40 individuals sought by the law, among them a member of the New People’s Army (NPA). The arrests were carried out across the region, with the Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO-13) announcing the results on a recent Friday. Leading the operation, PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano highlighted that two of the detainees were listed as the region’s most wanted, including a 45-year-old NPA insurgent known as ‘Babu.’ Babu, apprehended in Lianga, Surigao del Sur, faces serious charges including two counts of murder, two counts of frustrated murder, and three counts of attempted murder. Another notable arrest was that of a 75-year-old man named ‘Carlo,’ who is facing rape charges. All apprehended individuals are currently held in police custody. Abrahano credited the community’s cooperation as a key factor in the success of these operations.
