MANILA – The body of Filipino worker Jenny Alvarado, who tragically passed away in Kuwait, has been repatriated to the Philippines. This comes as authorities continue to investigate the distressing incident where her family initially received the wrong body on January 10. The remains arrived in Parañaque City at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, transported by Kuwait Airways flight KU 417, as confirmed by DMW Undersecretary Felicitas Bay via text message to the Philippine News Agency. Upon arrival, Bay, along with DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, representatives from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and Alvarado’s family, received the remains. An autopsy has been scheduled at the family’s request, who also seek privacy during this challenging period. Cacdac emphasized the ongoing support being provided to Alvarado’s family, including assistance in various forms and financial aid, especially for her three minor children. The Philippine government is actively coordinating with Kuwaiti officials to delve into the circumstances surrounding Alvarado’s death and that of her two foreign co-workers, believed to be due to coal suffocation from a heating system at their workplace. Legal action is being considered against those responsible for the body mix-up, with the DMW committed to pursuing justice for Alvarado. The incorrect body initially sent to the family has been returned to Kuwait, as investigations continue into the events of January 2.
