Philippine Government Denounces Killing of Filipina in Slovenia

·

The Philippine government has strongly condemned the murder of Marvil Facturan-Kocjančič, a Filipina who was tragically killed during a vacation in Bled, a resort town in Slovenia, last year. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to her family in the Philippines. Marvil’s husband, Mitja, has been identified as the main suspect and is currently detained by Slovenian authorities. The DFA, along with the Philippine Embassy in Vienna, is actively coordinating with Slovenian officials to facilitate the swift return of Marvil’s remains to the Philippines. The repatriation process is set to proceed once all necessary forensic examinations are completed. Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo Jose de Vega mentioned in earlier discussions that the repatriation might occur within the current or following week.
