Over 100 Designated Poster Spots Identified by Comelec in Bacolod City for Upcoming Elections

·

In preparation for the upcoming midterm elections on May 12, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has pinpointed over 100 locations across Bacolod City where campaign posters can be legally displayed. These designated areas span all 61 barangays of the city, ensuring widespread visibility for candidates’ campaign materials during the election period. According to the Comelec-Negros Island Region, a total of 111 spots have been selected, including areas near barangay halls, tanod outposts, plazas, basketball and covered courts, gymnasiums, parks, vacant lots, perimeter fences, entrances to residential subdivisions, in front of churches and police stations, and at street corners. Candidates vying for congressional, provincial, city, and municipal positions are allowed to display their posters from March 28 to May 10, while those running for senator and party-list groups can do so from February 11 to May 10. In addition to these preparations, Comelec is conducting roadshows across Negros Occidental until January 31 to familiarize voters with the automated counting machine. These roadshows are taking place in various locations such as barangay halls, covered courts, and school campuses. In Bacolod specifically, these educational events will continue in colleges and universities until January 24.
