In a sorrowful incident, Fr. Alejandro ‘Alex’ Galo, a 66-year-old Roman Catholic priest, met his untimely demise in a vehicular accident in Llorente, Eastern Samar. The accident occurred on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, when Fr. Galo, riding his motorcycle along the highway in Naubay village, was struck by a sports utility vehicle (SUV). The collision resulted in fatal injuries for the priest, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV has been detained by local authorities as investigations continue. Fr. Galo, originally from Maydolong, Eastern Samar, served as the head of the commissions on church properties and cemeteries within the Diocese of Borongan. The diocese mourned his loss, describing him as a dedicated servant of God. Fr. James Abella, the Diocese Chancellor, requested prayers for comfort and announced that details about the wake and burial services would be shared soon.
