DOTr Alerts Public to Beware of Fake Free Transport Card Scams

MANILA – The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has issued a warning to the public regarding a scam involving free transport cards. The scam is being promoted through a Facebook page named ‘Transportation in Manila’, which falsely claims to distribute these cards as part of the DOTr’s 126th anniversary festivities. The DOTr has clarified that no such giveaway is associated with their anniversary and labeled the page as fraudulent. The scam page, identifiable by the handle @Transportation-in-Manila, tricks users into clicking an ‘apply now’ link to supposedly receive a beep card. The DOTr urges the public to be cautious of offers that seem too good to be true and to report any suspicious social media posts or pages to help curb these deceptive practices.
