In a recent statement, Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, the newly appointed director of the Police Regional Office-7 in Central Visayas, has committed to ensuring the safety and security of the upcoming Sinulog festival. The assurance comes ahead of the Fiesta Señor celebration scheduled for Sunday, January 19, 2025, which is expected to attract thousands of devotees to the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu and the Cebu City Sports Center for the Sinulog festivities.
Maranan, who took over his position on Tuesday, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the police force, government agencies, and local communities to maintain public safety and prevent criminal activities during the event. He outlined his strategy to enhance police visibility, reduce response times, and uphold a disciplined and modernized police force.
“Our objective is to foster a modernized, disciplined, and respected police force. We aim to improve our response times and implement robust measures to combat drugs, crime, and private armed groups, ensuring a safe and secure Region 7,” Maranan stated.
