President Marcos Urges Swift Agricultural Support for Farmers During Planting Season

In a directive issued from Malacañang, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has called upon the Department of Agriculture (DA) to expedite the delivery of essential support to farmers across the nation, emphasizing the importance of timely assistance during the current planting season. During a meeting with economic managers on Monday, the President made it clear that there should be no significant delays in providing agricultural support to farmers. He specifically instructed DA officials to ensure that all forms of assistance reach the farmers without delay. Additionally, President Marcos directed the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to prioritize the agriculture sector, ensuring that budgetary support is provided promptly. He underscored the necessity of not falling behind during the planting season, stating, ‘Be mindful of the planting season. We should not get left behind during planting season. That’s why you need to come up with the timely budgetary support.’ The DA, in its briefing, highlighted that with the right support in fertilizers, quality seeds, and modern technologies, farmers can significantly increase their yields and improve productivity. The department also stressed the critical role of timely distribution of seeds and fertilizers in preventing delays and maximizing the potential of the harvest.
