DSWD Provides Over 5,000 Food Packs to Families Affected by Storms in Camarines Sur

·

In a significant relief effort, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5) has distributed over 5,000 family food packs to residents of Camarines Sur who were impacted by the storms ‘Kristine’ and ‘Pepito’ last year. The distribution took place over the weekend in Bato town, where nine barangays received aid valued at PHP3.56 million. The initiative targeted six severely affected barangays: Buluang, Salvacion, Goyudan, Cawacagan, Sagrada, and San Roque, with specific allocations ranging from 250 to 620 food packs per area. Additional support was extended to the barangays of Agos, Masoli, and San Miguel, with the latter receiving the highest number of packs at 1,138. Carl James Cabarles, the DSWD-Bicol information officer for disaster risk reduction management, emphasized that this effort is part of a broader strategy to assist families in recovering from the aftermath of these weather disturbances and to meet their essential needs. The distribution underscores DSWD-Bicol’s dedication to supporting the community as they rebuild their lives post-typhoon.
