In a significant development for Antique, a massive socialized housing project valued at a billion pesos is set to be constructed in the province’s capital, San Jose de Buenavista. The project, which will feature eight towers housing a total of 1,248 condominium units, is part of the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino Program (4PH) initiated by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The development will take place on a two-hectare plot in Barangay San Pedro.
Eby Archangel Butiong, Secretary of the Antique Provincial Housing Board, announced that the project aims to provide housing solutions primarily for provincial government employees from other municipalities. Butiong emphasized that the provincial government is currently negotiating a memorandum of agreement with the developer to prioritize these employees for the new units.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for next month, pending approval from Governor Rhodora Cadiao to sign the agreement. Once the project is completed, eligible employees can apply for units, which will be financed through Pag-IBIG Fund housing loans. Each unit is priced at PHP1.4 million, with payments spread over 25 years.
Butiong also noted that the housing units will be available to members of the Philippine National Police, overseas Filipino workers, and other Pag-IBIG members. The initiative is also expected to alleviate congestion in San Jose de Buenavista, which is experiencing rapid development.
