Bacolod’s MassKara Dancers Awarded P1.5 Million for Sinulog Performance

·

The MassKara Festival dancers from Barangay Granada in Bacolod City are set to dazzle audiences at the Sinulog sa Sugbo World 2025 in Cebu City on January 19, thanks to a generous P1.5 million subsidy from the Sinulog Foundation Inc. The dancers, who have clinched the MassKara Festival street dance and arena competition title six times, including in 2024, will represent Bacolod City as guest performers. This marks their second appearance at Sinulog following their debut last year.

At a recent meeting at the Bacolod City Government Center, the delegation, led by Barangay Granada’s village chief Armando Vito, was joined by key city officials including Secretary to the Mayor Marty Go, Councilor Jason Villarosa, and City Chief Tourism Operations Officer Teresa Manalili. Manalili expressed confidence in the dancers’ ability to showcase Bacolod’s vibrant culture at Sinulog 2025, emphasizing their selection due to their championship status in the MassKara Festival.

The group, comprising 60 dancers and 100 propsmen, will depart for Cebu on January 15 to participate in the Grand Parade on January 19. This year’s Sinulog sa Sugbo, themed ‘One Beat, One Dance, One Vision,’ will also feature a festival queen competition, street and stage dancing, and ritual showdowns, promising a spectacular showcase of cultural festivities.
