The Philippine weather agency, PAGASA, has announced that the shear line, the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), and the northeast monsoon will continue to influence weather patterns across the country. According to a recent bulletin, regions such as Bicol, Mimaropa, Eastern Visayas, and Quezon will see cloudy conditions with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line. Specifically, areas like Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Northern Samar are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding in urban, low-lying areas, or those near rivers, and potential landslides in susceptible regions. The easterlies will bring similar conditions to Caraga, Davao Region, Saranggani, and South Cotabato. Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan’, will cause cloudy skies with rain over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora. PAGASA has also warned of the risk of flash floods and landslides in these areas due to the heavy downpours. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with light rains due to the northeast monsoon. The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms influenced by the easterlies. Additionally, rough to very rough seas are expected along the coasts of Northern Luzon and the eastern parts of Central and Southern Luzon due to strong to gale-force northeast winds. The rest of Luzon and Visayas will face moderate to strong winds blowing east to northeast, resulting in moderate to rough seas. The remaining parts of the country will have light to moderate coastal conditions with winds from the east to northeast.
