Taiwan Still Has 3,000 Job Openings for Filipinos in Tech Sectors

·

MANILA – A labor attaché announced on Saturday that approximately 3,000 job vacancies remain open for Filipinos in Taiwan, particularly in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industries. This statement was made during a news forum in Quezon City by Cesar Chavez Jr., the Labor Attaché and Director of the Migrant Workers Office in Taipei. He revealed that Taiwan had issued around 15,000 job orders for Filipinos in 2024 alone.

To meet these demands, the Philippine government has been actively organizing job fairs across various regions including Quezon City, Ilocos, Bulacan, and Cabanatuan City. These efforts are aimed at curbing illegal recruitment and human trafficking. Chavez encouraged interested Filipinos to visit the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) website for more information on available positions.

Chavez also mentioned that the DMW is seeking an exemption from the 2025 election spending ban from the Commission on Elections to continue these job fairs. He emphasized the importance of these events, stating that halting them would deprive many Filipinos of job opportunities both locally and overseas. An exemption would allow for continuous job fairs, helping to meet the pending job quotas and orders.

Currently, over 160,000 Filipinos are employed in Taiwan, with the majority engaged in the AI and semiconductor sectors, while a smaller number work in Taiwanese households.
