Department of Health Refutes Claims of HIV-Tainted Blood Sugar Tests

·

The Department of Health (DOH) in Manila has dismissed rumors spreading on social media about a supposed medical worker conducting door-to-door blood sugar tests with needles allegedly infected with HIV. The DOH, in an advisory dated January 10 and released on Saturday, labeled the information as ‘fake’ and supported the Philippine National Police’s view that it was a baseless scare tactic. The circulating post suggested that someone posing as a member of the ‘Faculty of Medicine’ was visiting homes to perform these tests with contaminated needles. The DOH has advised the public against spreading unverified information that could cause undue panic and recommended relying solely on credible sources and official channels for information.
