Mimaropa’s Notorious Couple Apprehended in Rizal

In a significant law enforcement operation, a couple identified as key figures on Mimaropa’s most wanted list was captured in Rizal province. The arrest was executed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), as announced on Friday. The duo, known by the aliases Andres and Marites, ranked as the second and third most wanted in the region, respectively. The apprehension took place around 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday near the Hall of Justice in San Mateo, Rizal. They face serious charges including large-scale illegal recruitment, syndicated estafa, and various counts of trafficking, stemming from warrants issued by the Puerto Princesa City, Palawan Regional Trial Court Branch 49 on December 4, 2024, with no bail recommended. Following their arrest, the suspects were briefed on their rights under the Miranda Doctrine and subsequently taken to the CIDG’s Anti-Transnational Crime Unit for processing. CIDG chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III urged the public to be vigilant and thoroughly vet job offers to avoid falling prey to similar fraudulent schemes.
