MANILA – Despite ongoing legal disputes, Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro’s name will continue to appear on the ballot for the upcoming May 2025 elections. A recent ballot template displayed on the Commission on Elections (Comelec) website confirms that Teodoro is listed as a candidate for the representative position in the city’s first congressional district. Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia explained that Teodoro’s inclusion stems from a pending Motion for Reconsideration (MR) that he has filed with the Commission en Banc. Garcia highlighted that the Commission en Banc has previously overturned decisions made by its divisions based on arguments presented in such motions. He emphasized that Teodoro’s name would remain on the ballots until a final and enforceable decision is reached regarding his case. This comes after the Comelec First Division previously invalidated Teodoro’s certificate of candidacy for congressman, citing material misrepresentation in his filing from October 2024.
