The CFO expressed their solidarity with the victim’s family, denouncing domestic violence and calling for justice in a poignant statement on their Facebook page on January 10, 2025. The CFO also honored the life of Marvil, who had recently started a new chapter in Slovenia, arriving there just a week before her tragic death on December 22. The Filipino community in Germany has also expressed their condolences and joined the call for justice, highlighting the widespread shock and grief felt especially among Filipinos in Slovenia. Slovenian authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, arresting the suspect, who reportedly has a history of mental health issues, and transferring him to a psychiatric facility. Amidst this tragedy, the CFO reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for the rights of Filipinos overseas and encouraged those facing domestic violence or any form of abuse to seek help from the CFO, the 1343 Actionline against Human Trafficking, or the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate.
