In a significant law enforcement operation, two Chinese nationals, identified as Zhou and Juncheng, were apprehended in General Trias, Cavite, on charges of kidnapping two fellow Chinese citizens, Yuanjie and Yuanhao. The arrests were made following a tip from an individual named ‘Mak’, who reported that his friends were being held against their will and subjected to extortion. The operation, executed around 11:15 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025, in Brgy. Pascam 1, led to the successful rescue of the victims. Authorities seized from the suspects two genuine PHP1,000 bills, along with 300 pieces of PHP500 and 298 pieces of PHP1,000 boodle money, a pistol, a .45 caliber magazine, and ammunition. The suspects now face charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention under Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act 1084, and violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act under RA 10591. The case has been forwarded for inquest proceedings. Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group emphasized the commitment to justice and accountability in such criminal cases.
