The renowned Sugba Lagoon, located in Del Carmen on Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte, will be temporarily closed from January 10 to February 10, 2025. This closure is aimed at facilitating environmental recovery and rehabilitation efforts. The local government of Del Carmen has also planned to use this period to repair and maintain tourism facilities within the area. Ivonnie Dumadag, the Caraga Regional Director of the Department of Tourism, praised the local government’s dedication to sustainable tourism practices. She emphasized that the closure would ultimately improve the comfort and overall experience for future visitors. During the closure, tourists are encouraged to visit other attractions in Del Carmen, such as Kawhagan Island, Pamomoan Beach, and the Mangrove Forest Boardwalk.
