The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecasted that the shear line and the northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan,’ will continue to influence weather patterns across various regions of the Philippines. According to their latest 5 a.m. bulletin, areas such as Visayas, Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, and Dinagat Islands are expected to experience cloudy conditions with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line. PAGASA highlighted that moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated in specific provinces including Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Leyte, and Southern Leyte. There is a risk of localized flooding in urban, low-lying, or river-adjacent areas, and landslides could occur in areas prone to such events. The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies and rain to Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon. Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, and the rest of Calabarzon will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to ‘amihan.’ Other parts of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized weather phenomena. Additionally, rough coastal waters are expected in the northern and eastern sections of Luzon due to strong northeast winds, while the eastern section of Visayas will face moderate to rough seas from moderate to strong northeast winds.
