Police Seize PHP6.1 Million Worth of Marijuana in Las Piñas City

In a significant drug bust, the Southern Police District (SPD) confiscated suspicious parcels filled with dried marijuana leaves valued at PHP6.1 million in Las Piñas City. The operation took place on Tuesday night, January 7, 2025, in Barangay Pamplona Tres, following a tip from a forwarding company employee about unclaimed packages.

SPD Director Brig. Gen. Manuel Arugena reported that the police discovered five large balikbayan boxes within the suspicious parcels, which contained a total of 51 kilograms of dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops. These were cleverly concealed among other items. The inventory of the seized drugs was conducted in the presence of representatives from Barangay Pamplona Tres and the Department of Justice – Office of the City Prosecutor (DOJ-OCP) in Las Piñas City.

An investigation has been launched to trace the origin and intended destination of these parcels. Brig. Gen. Arugena emphasized the importance of public vigilance and encouraged citizens to report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.
