Surigao City kicked off the third year of its People’s Day initiative on January 7, 2025, in Barangay Washington, providing essential services to more than 2,000 residents. The event, which took place on a Tuesday, offered a range of free services including health, dental, legal, agricultural, veterinary, and social support.
The agricultural component of the day included handing out vegetable seedlings and vaccinating animals, aimed at supporting local communities. Additionally, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and the Philippine Statistics Authority were on hand to assist residents with their needs.
Mayor Pablo Yves Dumlao II emphasized the city government’s commitment to delivering high-quality services through the People’s Day program. He stated that the initiative is designed to bring government services directly to the people, enhancing accessibility and convenience.
The People’s Day activities are set to extend to 16 additional villages throughout the month, broadening the reach of these beneficial services. Local resident Babyjoy Vasquez from Purok 7 expressed her appreciation for the initiative, noting that it saved her a trip to the city center to resolve her queries with PhilHealth.
