TESDA Prioritizes Enterprise-Based Training for 2025

·

MANILA – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is set to prioritize enterprise-based training in its 2025 agenda, according to a statement made by TESDA Deputy Director General Nelly Nita Dillera during a recent episode of Bagong Pilipinas. Dillera emphasized that the ultimate goal of these training programs is to secure employment for participants.

Dillera encouraged more businesses to join TESDA’s program, highlighting the benefits of upskilling their workforce. She explained that companies interested in advancing their employees’ careers can align with TESDA’s training initiatives, and the authority would even fund such programs. Additionally, registered companies can enjoy incentives such as a 50% deduction of training expenses from their taxable income and exemptions from tax duties on financial aid or donated training materials.

Key industries targeted by TESDA include construction, manufacturing, and electronics, which are significant contributors to the country’s exports. Dillera noted the high demand for skills in manufacturing and electronics, given the Philippines’ role as a major producer of chips used in mobile phones. Other priority sectors include tourism, health, transportation, and logistics, all of which have substantial markets and contribute to export growth.

TESDA is also calling on enterprises to register their existing training programs, which could then be integrated into the broader skills training offerings available to the public. Dillera urged local government units to collaborate with TESDA to identify the specific labor and skills needs of businesses in their communities, ensuring that the training provided meets local market demands.
