In a significant restructuring move, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has reassigned seven of its senior officers to new roles. Maj. Gen. Robert Rodriguez, previously heading the Area Police Command Visayas, has been appointed as the Acting Deputy Chief for Operations, marking him as the third highest-ranking official in the PNP. This transition follows the retirement of Lt. Gen. Michael John Dubria, who stepped down upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56 on December 20, 2024.
Further changes include the appointment of Brigadier Generals Jericho Baldeo, Christopher Abrahano, and Christopher Abecia as officers-in-charge of the Directorate for Information and Communications Technology Management, Police Regional Office – Caraga, and the Aviation Security Group, respectively. Additionally, Brigadier Generals Roy Parena and Dionisio Bartolome Jr., along with Col. Mariano Rodriguez, have been assigned as Acting Deputy Director for Police Community Relations, deputy Director for Administration of PRO-Central Visayas, and Deputy Director for Administration of PRO-Davao, respectively.
During a flag-raising ceremony, PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil emphasized the importance of maintaining dignity and integrity within the force. He encouraged officers to resist temptation and undue influence, underscoring that their dignity is crucial to the public’s trust in the police. Marbil also called for a collective effort to enhance public service and contribute to the vision of a ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ (New Philippines), where police officers symbolize hope, peace, and justice.
