CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is set to wrap up multiple interconnection and enhancement initiatives across Mindanao this year, with significant projects slated for completion in Misamis Oriental and beyond. In a recent announcement, NGCP expressed confidence in completing the 230-kilovolt (kV) substation in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental, by the end of the year. This substation is a crucial component of the Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection Project (MVIP), which kicked off in January 2024. NGCP emphasized its dedication to bolstering the grid infrastructure to provide a more reliable and robust power supply to homes, businesses, and industries. Additionally, the company is on track to finish the Tacurong-Kalamansig 69-kV Transmission Line Project in Sultan Kudarat, along with other grid enhancement efforts. The MVIP, launched in January 2024, plays a vital role in improving power connectivity between Mindanao and Visayas. NGCP also urged for the prompt resolution and approval of pending applications with the Energy Regulatory Commission, highlighting that delays impact the company’s operations and project schedules.
