LEGAZPI CITY – On Monday, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) celebrated the 31st Philippine National Police (PNP) Ethics Day by honoring several officers for their remarkable service and acts of kindness. The ceremony took place at Camp Gen. Simeon A. Ola, where PRO-5 director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon underscored the importance of ethical behavior and integrity within the police force.
Dizon highlighted that the PNP’s ethical code is crucial in guiding officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. He stressed that adherence to these principles is essential for building public trust and delivering honorable service across the nation. This year’s theme, ‘Serbisyong may Integridad at Pananagutan, Tungo sa Ligtas at Mapayapang Pilipinas,’ reinforces the necessity of ethical conduct and moral responsibility in maintaining public confidence.
The event also served as a reminder for all police officers to integrate ethical practices into their daily duties, promoting a culture of accountability and excellence within the organization. Among the awardees, Lt. Judith dela Peña from the 2nd Police Mobile Force Company (PMFC) of Albay Provincial Police Office received the Medalya ng Papuri for her swift action in aiding an 80-year-old handicapped man suffering from a severe asthma attack. Her efforts ensured the man’s timely transport to Cotmon Clinic in Camalig, Albay, significantly contributing to his well-being.
Capt. Ralph Alfred Bongalbal of the 2nd PMFC in Camarines Norte was awarded the Medalya ng Ugnayang Pampulisya for his leadership and compassion in organizing a gift-giving and feeding program for children of the Manide Tribe. Similarly, Capt. Jerson Recuenco from the Juban Municipal Police Station was recognized for his role in the ‘A Gift of LOTERINA’ project, which involved installing solar street lights in Barangay Dita, Gubat, Sorsogon, enhancing community safety and development.
Senior M/Sgt. Hilben Matiaga of the Naga City Mobile Force Command was honored for his initiative in providing livelihood training to 125 individuals from various barangays in Naga City, focusing on food processing. S/Sgt. Gelmar Domagtoy from the Catanduanes 2nd PMFC was also recognized for his efforts in constructing a temporary bridge in Barangay Sagrada, Bagamanoc, Catanduanes, which was vital for the transport of goods and supplies following Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
Dizon concluded that the celebration reaffirmed the PNP’s dedication to its core values of service, honor, and justice, and the importance of acknowledging and rewarding the dedication and excellence of its personnel.
