Three Weather Patterns Set to Soak Luzon Regions

·

MANILA – According to the latest forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), three distinct weather systems will bring precipitation to various parts of Luzon. The shear line, easterlies, and the northeast monsoon, or ‘amihan,’ are expected to cause rain across the region.

PAGASA’s 5 a.m. bulletin detailed that the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora will see cloudy conditions with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, influenced by the shear line. Similarly, the Ilocos Region, along with the rest of the Cordillera and Cagayan Valley, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also due to the shear line.

In Batanes, the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies and rain. Meanwhile, Palawan will be under the influence of the easterlies, resulting in cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Aldczar Aurelio from PAGASA noted that the northeast monsoon is expected to intensify over the next two days, impacting a significant portion of Northern Luzon. He urged residents to prepare for potential flooding and landslides.

No low-pressure areas were reported within the Philippine Area of Responsibility. However, localized thunderstorms are expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms to Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

Due to moderate to strong northeast winds, Northern Luzon will face moderate to rough seas. In other areas, winds will be light to moderate, with slight to moderate sea conditions, according to PAGASA.

Temperatures throughout the day are expected to range between 24.3°C and 30.8°C.
