DAVAO CITY – The Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) announced plans to install additional closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras across the city this year to improve public safety. PSSO head Angel Sumagaysay confirmed that the initiative, approved by the City Mayor’s Office, will focus on priority areas. The project includes the installation of fiber optic cables, particularly along the coastal regions of the city. Sumagaysay expressed hope that the full implementation could be achieved by 2025. He emphasized the importance of expanding the CCTV network to enhance safety during emergencies and to manage traffic more effectively. Currently, about 200 CCTV cameras are operational throughout Davao City. Sumagaysay highlighted the necessity of these measures to keep pace with the city’s growth and to safeguard residents against incidents like flooding and traffic congestion.
