The eruption of Mount Kanlaon on December 9 has led to significant agricultural losses amounting to PHP33.5 million in Western Visayas, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). The damage spanned across 298.05 hectares of farmland, with 34.54 hectares deemed irrecoverable and 263.51 hectares considered partially damaged but with potential for recovery. The eruption impacted approximately 830 farmers and fisherfolk in the region. Additionally, the disaster affected 12,043 families, totaling 46,259 individuals across 26 villages in Western and Central Visayas. Currently, 4,420 families, or 14,441 people, are receiving assistance in 34 evacuation centers, while 2,192 families, or 6,977 individuals, are being supported outside these facilities.
