In a series of strategic operations, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) successfully seized shabu valued at nearly PHP12 million. These operations, which took place over two days, targeted a total of five drug suspects believed to be preparing for increased demand during New Year celebrations, according to Lt. Col. Lester Leada, the deputy city director for operations.
The first operation occurred on Monday morning in Purok Pagla-um, Barangay 17, where Police Station 2 agents arrested two individuals known as ‘Antonette,’ aged 37, and ‘Shayne Marie,’ aged 35. The duo was caught with 500 grams of shabu, estimated to be worth PHP3.4 million.
Later, on December 29, in Barangay Taculing, the City Drug Enforcement Unit nabbed two more suspects, ‘Sean Paul,’ 19, and ‘John Mark,’ 24, with 250 grams of shabu valued at PHP1.7 million.
The third operation took place the same evening in Barangay Tangub, where Police Station 8 officers arrested ‘Kyle,’ a 20-year-old from Barangay Mambulac in Silay City. They discovered a kilogram of shabu, worth PHP6.8 million, hidden in a plastic pack.
Investigations suggest that the drugs seized in these operations may have originated from a common supplier. The apprehended suspects are now facing legal action under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
