MANILA – The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has committed to providing full support to a Filipino domestic worker implicated in the tragic death of a young child in Kuwait. The incident, which occurred at the employer’s home, has prompted the DMW to express deep concern and offer condolences to the bereaved family and the Kuwaiti authorities. The DMW is actively collaborating with local officials in Kuwait through the Philippine Embassy and the Migrant Workers Office to ensure the worker receives the necessary assistance, all while respecting Kuwaiti legal standards and the DMW’s responsibilities. Reports indicate that the Filipino maid had placed the child in a washing machine, leading to fatal injuries after the child’s parents, alerted by his cries, rushed him to a hospital. The DMW emphasized that this distressing event is an isolated incident and does not reflect the general character of Filipinos and Filipino migrant workers, who are typically recognized for their compassion, professionalism, dedication, and diligence.
