On Christmas Day, a significant drug bust operation in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of shabu valued at PHP6.8 million. The operation, conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), took place in Sitio Lower Matumbo, Barangay Pusok. The suspects, identified as alias Jesson, aged 30, and his nephew, alias John, aged 26, were apprehended around 3:50 p.m. during a meticulously planned buy-bust operation. Alongside the shabu, authorities also confiscated buy-bust money, a smartphone, and other non-drug related items. However, another suspect known as Rasheed managed to escape during the operation. All seized evidence has been forwarded to the Philippine National Police’s Forensic Unit 7 for detailed chemical analysis. The arrested individuals are now facing charges under Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
