Kadiwa ng Pangulo’s Rice-for-All Initiative Slashes Rice Prices in Metro Manila

·

The Kadiwa ng Pangulo Rice-for-All program has successfully driven down rice prices across Metro Manila, according to the Department of Agriculture (DA). Initiated by the DA in collaboration with local dealers, importers, and wholesalers, the program offers well-milled rice at a subsidized rate of PHP40 per kilogram, with a purchase limit of 25 kilograms per individual. This initiative has prompted market rice retailers to lower their prices in response to the competitive rates offered by the Kadiwa kiosks.

The DA highlighted that rice sold through the Kadiwa program is priced PHP3 to PHP5 lower than that of typical market retailers. This price reduction has been observed in various public markets, including EDSA Balintawak Market in Quezon City, which distributed 110 sacks of rice, New Marulas Public Market in Valenzuela City with five sacks, and Malabon Central Market in Malabon City with 32 sacks.

The Rice-for-All program, now in its seventh day, continues to expand its reach to more public markets as the New Year approaches. The Philippine National Police (PNP) has pledged to support the smooth operation of the program, ensuring peace and order during the distribution process. PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil emphasized the importance of maintaining a fair and efficient service to Filipino families.
