DILG Commends PNP for Peaceful Christmas Amid Heightened Security

MANILA – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has praised the Philippine National Police (PNP) for ensuring a tranquil Christmas celebration across the nation. DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla announced on Friday that the strategic deployment of approximately 40,000 police officers across key locations resulted in no reported incidents on Christmas Eve. Remulla also expressed his support for the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ decision to maintain offensive operations without a holiday ceasefire. He emphasized the importance of continued vigilance by the PNP, especially in light of the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army’s refusal to declare a holiday ceasefire. Remulla reassured the public that the DILG, along with the PNP and other law enforcement agencies, would remain alert to safeguard communities from any threats to peace. As the new year approaches, Remulla stated that the DILG is committed to working towards a peaceful, prosperous, and progressive New Philippines.
