In a significant move to aid recovery efforts, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) has distributed vital information and communication technology (ICT) equipment to police stations impacted by recent typhoons. The distribution took place on Friday, December 27, 2024, at the PRO-5 Grandstand in Camp Brig. Gen. Simeon A. Ola, Legazpi City.
Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon, the PRO-5 Director, spearheaded the initiative, emphasizing the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) dedication to ensuring that its units are well-equipped to perform their duties despite natural disasters. The distribution included a variety of ICT tools aimed at enhancing the technological capabilities of the affected police units.
The Naga City Police Office (NCPO) and the Camarines Sur Police Provincial Office (CSPPO) were among the beneficiaries. The NCPO received three desktop computers and five printers for its main station, while its sub-stations also received equipment tailored to their needs. Sub-police station 1 was equipped with two desktop computers, two printers, and a router; sub-police station 3 received a desktop computer and a printer; and sub-police station 5 was allocated five desktop computers, three printers, and two routers.
Similarly, the CSPPO’s municipal police stations were not left out. The Bato Municipal Police Station (MPS) received three desktop computers and three printers, Gainza MPS got three desktop computers and two printers, Bombon MPS was given two desktop computers and two printers, and Nabua MPS received two desktop computers and two printers.
Dizon highlighted that the provision of these ICT resources is crucial for managing reports, processing data, and maintaining effective communication, all of which are essential for delivering efficient police services to the community. This initiative is a part of the broader PNP recovery efforts aimed at restoring the operational capabilities of police units in the typhoon-affected areas of Bicol.
