Amihan and ITCZ to Continue Influencing Weather Across the Philippines

·

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on Friday that the northeast monsoon, known locally as amihan, along with the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), will continue to impact various regions of the Philippines. According to the 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the ITCZ will bring cloudy conditions with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Mindanao, the Visayas, Palawan, Masbate, Catanduanes, Albay, and Sorsogon. Meanwhile, the amihan will cause cloudy skies and rain in Northern Luzon, specifically affecting Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Ilocos Norte. The rest of the Ilocos Region can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light, isolated rains due to the northeast monsoon. Metro Manila and other parts of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized weather phenomena. PAGASA has issued warnings about the potential for flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall. Additionally, strong northeast winds and rough seas are expected in Northern Luzon.
