In a significant effort to support those in need, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 4-A in Calabarzon has disbursed PHP5.13 billion to assist over 1.2 million individuals facing crises throughout 2024. This aid, distributed from January 1 to December 9, was part of the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP), which offers crucial support for medical, food, burial, and educational expenses.
Joseph Arceo, the public information officer for DSWD-Calabarzon, emphasized that the CIP is designed to help those hit hardest by economic shocks, such as hospitalization, illness, unemployment, bereavement, or natural disasters. The amount of aid provided is tailored to each client’s specific situation, determined through assessments by social workers.
As the year draws to a close, the field office is meticulously reviewing its financial transactions, including those under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program. This year-end liquidation process is crucial for maintaining financial transparency and accountability, Arceo noted.
The CIP remains a vital lifeline for the vulnerable in the Calabarzon region, offering not just immediate relief but also support for recovery during tough times.
