MANILA – Residents of Metro Manila and various regions in Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas are set to experience a wet Christmas, thanks to the shear line, according to the latest forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). The weather agency’s 4 a.m. bulletin highlighted that heavy to intense rainfall is expected in Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes. Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains are forecasted for Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, and Northern Samar. PAGASA has issued warnings about potential widespread flooding, particularly in urban, low-lying areas and those close to rivers, and the risk of landslides in regions with moderate to high susceptibility. In other parts of the country, Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region will see cloudy skies with rain, while the Ilocos Region will have partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated light showers due to the northeast monsoon, known locally as ‘amihan’. The rest of the Philippines can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms influenced by easterly winds. Additionally, rough seas are anticipated in Northern Luzon and the eastern parts of Central and Southern Luzon due to strong northeast to east winds. Temperatures across the affected areas are expected to range from 24.6°C to 28.2°C.
