President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to officially sign the 2025 General Appropriations Bill into law on December 30, following the Rizal Day commemorations, as announced by Cesar Chavez, the acting Secretary of the Presidential Communications Office. Originally, Marcos had planned to approve the PHP6.352 trillion budget before Christmas, but he opted to delay the signing to allow for a thorough review of the bill’s contents. The printed version of the 2025 GAB was delivered to Malacañang on the afternoon of December 20. In preparation for the signing, President Marcos has been engaging in discussions with his Cabinet to scrutinize the proposed expenditures for 2025. He emphasized the need for additional time to assess the budget due to significant modifications introduced by Congress, expressing his desire to ensure that the funds are allocated to essential and priority initiatives.
