President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is set to sign the 2025 General Appropriations Bill (GAB) into law on December 30, following the Rizal Day commemorations, according to Cesar Chavez, the acting Secretary of the Presidential Communications Office. Chavez shared this update via a text message to reporters stationed at the Palace. Once signed, the bill will officially become the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA). Originally, Marcos planned to approve the PHP6.352 trillion budget before Christmas, but he postponed the signing to allow for a thorough review of the bill’s provisions. The printed version of the 2025 GAB was delivered to Malacañang in the late afternoon of December 20. President Marcos has been engaging in discussions with his Cabinet members to scrutinize the proposed spending for 2025. He mentioned needing additional time to assess the budget due to significant alterations made by Congress, emphasizing his desire to ensure that the funds are allocated to crucial and priority initiatives.
