In a significant crackdown on illegal drugs, the Philippine National Police’s Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) arrested five high-value individuals (HVIs) in Taguig City, confiscating over PHP4.7 million worth of suspected shabu. The arrests took place during a meticulously planned sting operation on Monday, December 23, 2024.

The first two suspects, known by the aliases Maeng, 55, from Tramo Street in San Dionisio, Parañaque City, and Tong, 32, from Purok 7 FTI, Taguig, were apprehended around 5:45 p.m. on Langka Road in Western Bicutan, Taguig City. They were found in possession of approximately 500 grams of suspected shabu, valued at around PHP3.4 million on the street, along with other non-drug items.

Later that evening, at about 9:55 p.m., PDEG operatives arrested three more HVIs at a residence on Mangondato Street in Maharlika Village, Taguig City. The police seized four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing about 200 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of PHP1.3 million.

Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta, head of the PDEG, commended the police units for their relentless efforts in the fight against illegal drugs. He emphasized that the operation not only dismantled a dangerous drug network but also significantly enhanced community safety. Matta stated, “The successful buy-bust operation executed by the PNP-DEG has effectively neutralized a harmful drug group, protecting local communities from further threats. With the seizure of millions in illegal drugs, this operation has greatly bolstered the safety of the area. The community’s trust in the PNP-DEG to keep their streets safe remains strong.”

The arrested suspects and non-drug evidence are currently held by the PDEG for proper documentation and processing. The drug evidence has been sent to the PNP Forensic Group at Camp Crame for detailed laboratory analysis.
